📋 Project Overview & Objectives
The primary goal of C-VoUCHER was to redesign traditional European value chains by replacing the “Take-Make-Waste” model with a “Take-Make-Reuse” approach.
- Target: Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in 5 domains (Food, Manufacturing, Textile, Maritime, and Health).
- Methodology: Combining Design Thinking (via Designers-in-Residence) with Enabling Technologies to create disruptive circular business models.
- Core Ambition: To “future-proof” companies against resource scarcity and environmental regulations.

🚀 Deliverables & Program Outputs
1. Acceleration Programs
- Circularity Programme: A 9-month intensive track for 12 SMEs. Provided €58k vouchers and technical mentoring to develop “Circular Solutions.”
- Circularity Value Replication Programme: A 3-month track for 42 SMEs. Provided a €15k lump sum to create “Circular Business Cases” inspired by the initial solutions.
2. Technical & Strategic Tools
- Circular Design Toolkit for Regions: A set of methodologies and lessons learned for regional bodies to replicate the C-VoUCHER acceleration model.
- Technology Disruptor Integration: Connection of SMEs with 22 technology providers to implement hardware/software solutions that enable circularity (e.g., IoT for tracking, bio-materials).
3. Regional & Social Impact
- Regional Hubs: Established a collaborative network of 13 partners and 35 clusters.
- Knowledge Embedding: Shifted the mindset of entrepreneurs toward sustainable resource management and community-involved business models.
🌍 Socio-Economic Impact
Beyond the immediate financial gains, C-VoUCHER has created a “Legacy Effect”:
- Sustainability: SMEs are now less reliant on volatile raw material markets.
- Replicability: The 10 signed MoUs ensure that the project’s methodology will be used by regional governments to fuel circular transitions long after the EU funding ends.
- Stakeholder Synergy: Improved the collaboration between local communities, designers, and policy-makers.
